The story of modern mis- and dis-information, how to spot it, stop it and build a new relationship with the truth.

We need to talk.

It's all so very human. We're perfectly attuned to absorb information packed tightly into the stories that we share. It’s just our thing. Stories have been the warm embrace holding small groups of people together for tens of thousands of years. They’re our creative spark, our place in the world. They’re new, they’re exciting, and they’re really, really scary. The catastrophic problem is that, in our modern age of false information and fake news, they've also become incredibly bad for our health.

The Future of Truth (and How to Get There) explains why we've fallen so hard for mis- and dis-information, and how to find our way back from the brink, to a happier, healthier conversation with each other.

Welcome

Right, wrong and the grey bit in the middle.

None of the main issues which humanity is facing will be resolved without access to information.”

— Christophe Deloire, Secretary General of Reporters Without Borders.

We're up to our ears in information.

But who can we trust to tell us the truth?

Let's face it, most of us tend to believe that we're right, that we've done our research and know where to find the truth. But actually, 'truth' is simply a value judgement. It's a grey area between what we hope it is, what we've been told is true by the people we trust, and what we already believe.

One of our biggest challenges is to see stories for what they are.

The Future of Truth (and How to Get There) carefully guides us through the practical skills we can quickly learn to look at information with perspective, balance, to separate the facts from the fiction, and to spot lies in real time.
